Coronavirus/COVID-19: Will it affect ASR 2020?

Updated: March 13, 2020 - 11:30am Central

Yeti Nation,

It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you the 2020 Abominable Snow Race has been cancelled for March 14th, 2020.  The decision came only a few minutes ago after Devil’s Head informed us they will be shutting down the resort indefinitely.

“In an effort to stop the illness from spreading and to stay in line with our social responsibility, we are closing the Devil’s Head property, effective March 13th.  We understand the inconvenience that results from this action, however our first obligation is to preserve the safety of our community.”

-   Joe Vittengl, General Manager, Devil’s Head Resort

We fully respect the resort’s decision during this time, and we are with working Devil’s Head on the possibility to postpone the event to late spring.  As well, we’re working on transfer options to 2021 for all racers. Finally, we will work on plans to distribute
medals, shirts, bibs, and beanies as an option as well.  We thank you for your patience while we catch up to an environment that is quickly changing.

We will be in touch with more communication this weekend.
